In a recent project involving a private residential house, our focus was on selecting the perfect marble for the master suite's bathroom. This space served as a testing ground for experimenting with various types of stone, including marble, onyx, and travertine. The choice of stone plays a critical role in defining the space's ambiance, demonstrating how color and texture can dramatically alter the room's mood and lighting.
Despite the identical architectural geometry of the bathroom, the type of stone used had a profound impact on its perception. With the use of darker stones, the space, even with a large window, transformed into a mysterious and enigmatic atmosphere. Conversely, lighter tones infused the room with lightness and luminosity, creating an entirely different feel.
Experimenting with stones that have complex textures, such as Grand Antique marble or onyx varieties like Viola or Fantastico Rosso, introduced an element of bold, almost chaotic beauty. However, care must be taken when using such strikingly patterned stones. They are best used in small quantities to accentuate specific interior elements without overwhelming the space.
After careful consideration, we selected the exquisite Rosa Portogallo, a refined pink marble from Portugal. Its delicate salmon hue and subtle grey veining brought a unique elegance to the bathroom, striking the perfect balance between luxury and understated sophistication. This choice exemplified our commitment to selecting materials that not only enhance the aesthetic of a space but also resonate with the overall design philosophy of the home.
